T&T's hockey men were given a rude awakening in their opening Indoor World Cup match against the Czech Republic on Wednesday morning, losing 7-2.
Within the first ten minutes of the game, T&T found itself 4-0 down. Jakub Kyndl opened the scoring in the third minute while David Vacek doubled the lead a mere minute after. Two minutes later in the sixth minute, Lukas Plochy made it 3-0 to the Czechs.
T&T's men's hockey team was edged out 5-4 to Russia on Tuesday in their final warm-up match before their World Cup opener against the Czech Repubic on Wednesday in Berlin.
The defeat will not, or at least should not, affect the morale in the T&T camp, because this Russia team is ranked number four in the world.
The local boys gave one of the World Cup favourites a run for its money with goals from Akim Toussaint, Jordan Vieira, Mickell Pierre, and Shaquille Daniel.
T&T's hockey men ended their Dutch camp with a convincing 8-4 victory over Venlo Heren 1 today.
Jordan Vieira was again in top form, scoring four goals.
Akim Toussaint scored a brace while Marcus James and Jordan Reynos had one each.
Now it's on to Berlin for the World Cup.
