Huawei announces new T&T CEO

Huawei Technologies T&T has announced the appointment of Mr. Jeff Jin as the Chief Executive Officer for its operations in Trinidad and Tobago, with immediate effect.

Jin takes over the job of spearheading the Huawei T&T team with responsibility for overseeing strategic growth, development and overall operations for all of Trinidad and Tobago and the Eastern Caribbean, with a range of focus including the Huawei network, enterprise and device business groups.

Huawei helps the helpers in flood relief efforts

The local arm of Huawei, a global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, has joined relief efforts following last weekend's floods.

On Friday Huawei T&T Limited recognised that, following the vast flooding in several areas, there were officers out on the front lines helping others in their communities with relief efforts, while their own homes and families were affected by flooding. 

The management and staff of Huawei T&T rallied to collect a variety of items to donate to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service.

National Security to utilise Huawei technology in fight against crime

National Security Minister Edmund Dillon, and newly appointed Minister of Communications Stuart Young have met with executives of Huawei Technologies for a presentation by one of their top Executive Global Security Officers.

A government statement says this meeting was a direct follow up to the recent official visit of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley to the People’s Republic of China and in particular, an outcome of his visit to Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, China, where it was agreed that Huawei would do an assessment of Trinidad and Tobago’s National Fusion Centre.

Huawei sends UTT students to China

From October 31st to November 16th, four students of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) will visit Huawei’s headquarters in China to train in the latest in ICT.

The Fortune 500 company says it aims to share knowledge and expertise with the next generation of ICT and telecoms students and develop the top talent in T&T to ready them for the digital transformation.

Technology: Huawei registers US$75 billion in revenue

Huawei has released its audited financial results for 2016, reporting that its Carrier, Enterprise, and Consumer business groups (BGs) each achieved solid year-on-year growth.

Group annual revenue was CNY521.6 billion (US$75.1 billion), an increase of 32% over 2015.

Net profits were CNY37.1 billion (US$5.3 billion), an increase of 0.4%.

In 2016, Huawei continued to invest in the future, with the company's annual spending on research and development reaching CNY76.4 billion (US$11 billion).
