16,523 migrants registered in two weeks

The fi­nal fig­ure for the num­ber of Venezue­lans who reg­is­tered in the re­cent two-week amnesty process is 16,523.

The pre­lim­i­nary fig­ure which was giv­en at the end of the ex­er­cise was over 15,000.

Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Stu­art Young gave the up­dat­ed fig­ure in Tues­day night’s Sen­ate de­bate.

Kamla:No Opposition support for Immigration changes

Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Stu­art Young is chal­leng­ing ac­tivist Yese­nia Gon­za­les and oth­er Venezue­lan na­tion­als to bring ev­i­dence they have against Im­mi­gra­tion of­fi­cers they al­lege are tak­ing bribes from Venezue­lan na­tion­als seek­ing to gain en­try in­to T&T and to stay here af­ter their time has elapsed.

Young made the call yes­ter­day, hours af­ter Gon­za­les made the claim on CNC3’s The Morn­ing Brew and some of her com­pa­tri­ots backed up the al­le­ga­tion.

Three Venezuelan women, 3-year-old boy detained in Erin

Four Venezuelan nationals have been detained by officers of the South Western Division, during an anti-crime exercise at the Los Iros Beach, Erin, last evening.

During the exercise, which was led by Sgt. Richardson, of the Santa Flora Police Station, officers had cause to stop and search a brown Nissan Almera motor vehicle parked near a bar occupied by two Trinidadian men and four Venezuelans.

Enquiries led officers to believe that the three Venezuelan women, ages ranging from 22 to 41 years, and a 3-year-old Venezuelan boy, were in the country illegally.
