Lake Asphalt workers protest

Workers of the Lake Asphalt Company are warning the People's National Movement (PNM) Administration that it will lose the La Brea seat, if something is not done to save the company.

Workers protested outside the company's office at Brighton, La Brea this morning.

According to Branch President of the Contractors and General Workers Trade Union, Noble Raeburn, workers were told that the company has been confronted with dire financial constraints.

They now fear that the company may shut its doors and workers will be sent home.

NATUC leads public officers in capital city protest

Hundreds of public officers marched through east Port of Spain this morning to demand settlement of their wage negotiations.

The protesting workers, led by Watson Duke, President of the National Trade Union Centre (NATUC), wound their way through St. Paul Street and Besson Street.

They are marching to protest against what they believe is the Chief Personnel Officer's delay in settling wage negotiations for workers from different state agencies.

The negotiations apply to different periods.
