A Belmont man is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today charged with a double murder in 2017—the murders of Mukhtar Ali and Jamal Modeste—as well a charge of shooting with intent against a female victim, which occurred on Sunday 3 December 2017.
24-year-old hospital attendant, ANTHONY MOORE (alias ‘Chico’), of St. Francois Valley Road, Belmont, also was charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Friday 17 January 2020.
Another murder was recorded in Arima on Thursday night.
According to a police report, at about 8.30 pm, 43-year-old Julien Caleb was standing at the corner of Eastern Main Road and Kingdom Avenue when a gunman walked up to him and shot him dead.
Julien Caleb was the third resident from Malabar to be killed in the last 12 days.
Police said Caleb lived at Richard Street in Malabar and was a barber.

The man accused of killing Gabriella Du Barry at her Fyzabad home last Thursday, has been sent for a psychiatric evaluation at the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital.
Vishal Birju, a PH driver of Pepper Village, Fyzabad appeared before Magistrate Ava Vandenberg-Bailey at the Siparia Magistrates Court this morning.

Fields is accused of stabbing 48-year-old Jezelle Fourniller, of Edingburgh 500, Chaguanas, at the school located along Independence Square in Port-of-Spain, last Monday.
A man identified only by his alias was found dead in Arouca on Tuesday morning.
The man’s body bore several gunshot wounds to the head.
According to a police report, at about 1.30 am, residents at Yorke Street, Arouca, heard voices quarrelling on the roadway over a cigarette, and then heard several gunshots.
Thirty year old Vishal Birju has been charged with the murder of Gabriella Du Barry.
Birju, a taxi driver from Pepper Village, Fyzabad, was charged yesterday evening.
He is expected to appear before a Siparia magistrate at the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, this morning.
Last Thursday, Garbiella Du Barry was at her parents’ home when Birju stormed the premises, entered a bedroom and opened fire on her. The mother of one was shot three times and died at the scene.
He was subsequently detained by police at his home.
The body that was found in Arouca on Monday is said to be a man identified only as "Beatle".
