Another protest over conditions at Edinburgh Government Primary
Parents and teachers of the Edinburgh Government Primary School are expected to stage a protest in-front of the school, today, with support from the Oilfields Workers Trade Union.
Guardian Media understands that since the school reopened in September, several students have fallen ill with rashes, respiratory problems, severe itching and asthma attacks.
And last Wednesday, a teacher was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility after she collapsed at the school, moments after complaining about feeling nauseous and dizzy.
OWTU: “Injunction against Refinery deal was political…”
THE Oilfields Workers Trade Union (OWTU) is calling the injunction to block the sale of the Petrotrin Refinery a political move.
This after the United National Congress (UNC) distanced itself from any legal action with respect to the sale of the refinery.
Education and Research Officer of the OWTU, Ozzie Warwick, told Guardian Media that members of the UNC—namely Oropouche East MP, Dr Roodal Moonilal—lied on the union in the Parliament.
He says they are taking that very seriously.

Political Leader of the MSJ—David Abdullah—is refuting claims by Opposition MP Dr Roodal Moonilal, of conspiracy and corruption in the OWTU’s bid for the Petrotrin Refinery.
The MSJ leader says he will be consulting his attorneys and exploring all his legal options in the matter.
Moonilal questions Petrotrin purchase
Oropouche East MP Roodal Moonilal wants to know if there is third party manipulation of the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union’s (OWTU) recent acquisition of the Pointe-a-Pierre oil refinery.
In his contribution to the Budget debate yesterday, the Opposition MP raised questions about who facilitated a meeting between CEO of Sunstone Equities John Van Dyke and members of the union.
OWTU to buy Petrotrin refinery for US$700 million
Cabinet has agreed to select Patriotic Energies and Technologies Company Ltd (PETCL),- a company wholly owned by the Oilfield Workers Trade Union (OWTU) as the preferred bidder for the sale of Petrotrin's refinery.
The announcement was made by Finance Minister Colm Imbert in Parliament.

While Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said that an average of $.5 million was paid as severance to each Petrotrin worker when the company was shut down, the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) has accused him of distorting figures.
Speaking at the People’s National Movement public meeting at the Pleasantville Community Centre, San Fernando on Tuesday night, Rowley said that “no one was tossed onto the pavement to suffer”.

Roget gets another term as OWTU President General
President General of the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) Ancel Roget will continue for another three years as the union says that a new executive committee has been nominated unopposed for the 2019 – 2022 term.
