Unidentified man killed in Laventille

An unidentified man was gunned down on Monday night in Laventille.

According to a police report, at about 7.20 pm, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force responded to the sound of gunshots at Cashville, in the Eastern Quarry area.

On arrival, they found the body of an unidentified man lying on the roadway.

Police said he was shot multiple times.

The body was clad in a green jersey, a pair of long black jeans and a pair of black sneakers.

TTPS gets 10 horses from Holland

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) has re­ceived ten warm­bloods hors­es from Hol­land.

The hors­es ar­rived last Fri­day and were hand­ed over to the Mount­ed Branch.

Arms and ammo seized in Central Division exercise

An anti-crime exercise yesterday in Central Division has resulted in the seizure of several firearms and ammunition.

According to police reports, around 3.30 pm on Sunday, a party of officers attached to the Central Division proceeded to Union Village in Felicity near a public cemetery, where in a bushy area, they found a silver and black coloured metal object resembling a firearm.

Murder-Suicide in Couva

Police have confirmed a murder-suicide in Couva, this morning.

According to reports, around 7.58 am, a 31-year-old woman was shot dead by her estranged husband as she exited her vehicle at her work place, Venture Credit Union, located along Noel Street, Couva.

The suspect then turned the gun on himself.

The woman has been identified as a loans officer named Naila Singh.

Suspect in doctors’ abduction to appear in court today

One of the suspects in the kidnapping of Dr. Rudradeva Sharma and Dr. Prem Vijay Naidoo is expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate this morning.

The 19-year-old man is charged with two counts of kidnapping, as well as charges relating to the deaths of Dr Sharma and the suspect’s accomplice 19-year-old Akeem Marine. 

Sharma and Marine were killed from injuries sustained in the crash.

The other remaining suspect, aged 17 years, was taken back to the San Fernando General Hospital yesterday, after he complained about body pains.

Man gunned down in Tunapuna

A man whose home was fire-bombed two weeks ago was gunned down in Tunapuna on Wednesday evening.

According to a police report, shortly after 7 pm, Kenneth Millard was sitting near the gate of an apartment complex he managed at Ali Street, when a lone gunman walked up to him and shot him several times. The gunman then escaped.

Upon hearing the gunshots, the tenants of the complex called the police.

However, when the police arrived, they found Millard dead on the scene.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre in St James today.

DPP to decide on charges for suspect in doctors’ abduction

Detectives investigating the kidnapping of Dr. Rudradeva Sharma and Dr. Prem Vijay Naidoo are expected to meet with the Director of Public Prosecutions this afternoon for advice, before laying charges against one of the suspects.  

The 19-year-old labourer of Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando, would then be charged and taken before a San Fernando magistrate. 

The suspect has been detained at the police station since his discharge from the San Fernando General Hospital last Thursday. 

Alleged kidnap victim arrested and charged

The man who claimed to have been kidnapped and held hostage by Venezuelan gangsters in the forest, is expected to appear at the Rio Claro Magistrates Court today, following his arrest by Barrackpore Police.

24-year-old coconut water and juice salesman, Shane Ramjattan, was called into the Barrackpore Police Station at about 1pm yesterday.

He was asked to give a statement on his abduction by investigating officers.

However, Ramjattan reportedly changed the story he initially gave to the police. 

He was subsequently arrested and charged.

Arima Man Held with Revolver and Ammunition

One man was arrested and a firearm and quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force (Area East), during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Arima district.

The exercise was conducted between 3:00am and 8:00am on Sunday 19th January 2020.

Official police reports state that officers executed a search warrant at the Jacob Hill, Wallerfield, Arima home of a 25-year-old suspect.

The search resulted in officers finding one revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
