Former national champion Clint Bachan came out of retirement for the recent National qualifiers and proved that class is permanent in winning the recent Open Invitational 10 ball tournament in Tobago on Tuesday evening.
Bachan, who hails from Caroni in central Trinidad, beat Vishaal Singh in the race to three final to lift the trophy and the $2,000 cash prize.
Sogren Trace in Laventille will have a $4.5 m community swimming pool by the end of the year. Laventille West MP Fitzgerald Hinds says the development of the new Laventille Community Swimming Pool was a “gift to the people of Laventille”.
Hinds was speaking yesterday at the sod-turning for Laventille Community Swimming Pool facility which was hosted by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and Housing and Urban Development in conjunction with Udecott at Sogren Trace.
As part of the government's national development strategy project, $7.6 million was spent on upgrading the pool and deck of the Trinidad Hilton.
The works included a raised Jacuzzi, an adult tanning ledge and a children’s pool, three cabanas, a water fountain with LED lights, upgraded mechanical, electrical and plumbing services and equipment, a new audio system, a salt water treatment system and a new reinforced fibre concrete pool deck patterned in the form of a steel pan mural.
Investigations continue into the drowning death of two-year old child in Tobago.
Reports indicate that Chyna Robert was left in the care of an aunt and uncle at Rennaisance, Roxborough.
Around midday Saturday, Chyna walked out the sight of the adults.
Her uncle found her climbing a ladder to an inflatable adult sized pool.
By the time he ran for the child she jumped into the pool.
The man recovered the child's body however she was unconscious.
He tried CPR but was unsuccessful.
Police were called to the scene.
