President "distraught" over attempt to sell nation's highest award on Ebay

President Anthony Carmona is "distraught" over the attempt by someone to sell the country's highest award, the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, on Ebay.

The President says in a statement, that the award is not a rag doll and tells the person who is doing it that they must not proceed.

The following is the statement from the Office of the President:

"The purported sale of the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT) medal is quite upsetting to President Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona ORTT, SC.

President Carmona leaves for Washington

President Anthony Carmona has left the country for Washington DC, where he will participate in the 149th anniversary celebrations of Howard Ubniversity.

The following is a statement from the Office of the Prtesident.

"His Excellency President Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona O.R.T.T., S.C accepted an invitation from Howard University in Washington DC to take part in the Annual Ceremonial Celebration commemorating the 149th anniversary of the founding of Howard University.

Carnival is on! So says the President

It may seem as just a matter of procedure, but without President Anthony Carmona officially declaring the days of Carnival, then the festivities cannot legally take place.

And now he has, in accordance with The Public Holidays and Festivals Act.

The Ministry of Communications today issued the President's official declaration. It reads;
