Opposition offers proposals to resolve FATCA impasse

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has called on Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley to write to incoming us president donated trump to determine the future of the FATCA legislation in the United States.

The call comes as Persad Bissessar wrote to the prime minister seeking a resolution to the deadlock over the FATCA bill.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Persad-Bissessar outlined several proposals to resolve the impasse that currently exists between the government and opposition on the passage of the tax information exchange agreements bill 2016.

PM meets with good Samaritan Lillyann Williams

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has met with Lillyann Williams, who shot into fame this week when photos of her helping a disabled man began circulating on Facebook.

The Prime Minister presented Lillyann with tokens of appreciation and thanked her for her act of kindness, during a meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister today.

Mayor of San Fernando, Alderman Kazim Hosein was also present at the meeting.

Williams also presented the Prime Minister with a token of a basket of fruits.

PM appoints Dennis Moses as Minister in Ministry of National Security

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has appointed Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, Dennis Moses, as Minister in the Ministry of National Security.

His duties will be in addition to his current portfolio.

A statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister this afternoon does not go into specifics as to the reasons for the appointment.
