Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan is asking members of the public to be patient with the Licensing Department, as he says the recent social media rumour about inspection stickers has created a flood of applicants, creating problems similar to what a run on a commercial entity does.
The Minister told CNC3 that inspection stickers are not printed years in advance and are usually done on a month-to-month basis.
Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan says transportation service company Uber did not have any meetings with the Licensing Division, prior to setting up in this country.
The Minister says a company cannot just operate in a country without speaking first with the necessary authorities.
He has invited Uber to meet with the Ministry on Wednesday.
This follows questions about the legality of Uber which began operations at 11 am on Monday on Trinidad and Tobago, mainly operating out of Port-of-Spain and San Fernando.
