Traffic changes in San Fernando from tomorrow

The San Fernando City Corporation will implement a new traffic management plan for a trial period of two weeks, starting tomorrow, Tuesday.

The corporation says this plan is aimed at tackling the major issue of traffic gridlock in the city centre.

Motorists and the traveling public are being advised to heed the following changes:

* The Fyzabad Taxi Stand will be relocated from Lord Street to the Western side of Mucurapo Street

* The Marabella Taxi Stand will be re-orientated (Southbound) towards Mucurapo Street on the Western side

US Embassy moves to San Fernando for a day on Friday

The United States Embassy will move to San Fernando for one day on June 9 to seek new opportunities to engage with the community, a statement by the embassy said.

Its offices will be based at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA), Todd Street, San Fernando from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

An initiative of Chargé d’Affaires John W. McIntyre in collaboration with San Fernando Mayor Junia Regrello and the City Corporation, the day will start with the raising of the U.S. Flag, symbolizing the US presence, followed by an opening ceremony and press availability in the foyer.

Man shot in San Fernando

A shooting incident has left one man fighting for his life at hospital.

Around 7.20 pm on Wednesday Kyle Collins was sitting in a white Nissan Laurel at Matthew Street in Marabella, when a lone gunman approached him and opened fire.

Residents notified the police and the man was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he is warded in a critical condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

Missing 16-year-old San Fernando girl found

Shania Ali, the 16-year-old of San Fernando, who was reported missing by her aunt, Natasha Williams, on Wednesday 12th April, 2017, has been found, a statement by the Police Service says.

The statement adds that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service thanks the public for its assistance in ensuring the teenager’s safe return.

It does not go into any further details.

16-year-old San Fernando girl missing

Police are seeking the public's assistance to locate a missing teen from San Fernando.

Shania Ali, a 16-year-old of Rushworth Street, San Fernando, was last seen leaving her home on Wednesday, April 12.

Her aunt, Natasha Williams, reported her missing around 9.45 pm that same day.

Ali is of African descent, 5 feet, 9 inches, dark brown in complexion and has short black hair.

She was last seen wearing a black jersey, a pair of short blue pants and gold and black sandals.

Missing 15-year-old San Fernando girl found

Shinayah McDonald, the 15-year-old of San Fernando, who was reported missing by her father, Marlon Smith, on Monday 3rd April, 2017, has been found.

A statement by the Police Service is thanking the public for its assistance in ensuring the teenager’s safe return.

Police arrest 25-year-old San Fernando man for illicit drug possession

A 25-year-old San Fernando man has been charged with possession of illicit drugs.

Police says that around 3:45am on Saturday 1st April, 2017, officers attached to the San Fernando CID, acting upon information received, carried out the arrest.

They say 25-year-old Kerry Perrot, aka "Mammoo", was stopped and searched by officers along Quenca Street, San Fernando, in the vicinity of Southern Medical Clinic.

The officers subsequently found 15.5 grammes of cocaine and 3.7 grammes of marijuana in his possession.
