Man killed in Trou Macaque, Laventille

Investigations are continuing into the motive behind yesterday’s killing of Jmari Villaruel, in Troumacaque in Laventille.

The incident reportedly occurred at 5:30 p.m. Reports are that the victim was ambushed as he was liming at Hitler Trace, and was shot multiple times.

Police said that Jmari Villaruel, also known as "Pokey", hailed from Beetham Gardens and was well known by law enforcement. 

No arrest has been made and investigations are continuing.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on Jmari Villaruel today, at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

Shooting incident in Diego Martin

Two men were gunned down in Diego Martin last night.

CNC3 News understands that at around 7.45pm, 58-year-old Larry Joseph and 20-year-old Joseph Daniel were among a group of persons at Covigne Road, when they were shot and killed.

Daniel died at the scene while Joseph (of Cemetery Street) died while being treated at the St James Health Facility.

A third person, who was shot in the arm, was taken to hospital.

Pictures have begun circulating on social media showing one of the victims clenching several $100 bills.

Investigations are continuing.

 

Woman killed in Edinburgh 500

Police are trying to determine the motive behind the murder of an Edinburgh 500 woman on Wednesday evening.

Dead is Shanice Williams, of 15th Street, Edinburgh 500.

According to reports, at about 10 pm, she was called out of her house by someone. When she walked out to answer them, several loud explosions were heard.

The mother of one was shot about the body.

A motive for her killing has not been established, however, investigations are ongoing.

Shanice Williams is the 56th woman murdered this year so far.

Gunmen cause havoc at SEPOS School

Gunmen climbed onto rooftops of the Plannings at Upper and Lower Nelson Street and were firing off "warning/message" gunshots at each other on Wednesday morning, when five stray bullets ended up penetrating a classroom at the South East Port of Spain Secondary School.

One of the bullets ricocheted and grazed a female teacher on the hand, while another bullet went just over the head of a pupil while he was sitting his end of term examination. The bullet missed his head by mere centimetres.

Teacher shot by stray bullet

Gunmen fired "wild" shots in East Port of Spain on Wednesday morning, causing havoc at the South East Port of Spain Secondary School, where one teacher was grazed by one of the bullets.

The incident occurred at about 10.45 am.

A pupil escaped injury as one of the bullets went over his head, missing him by mere centimetres.

This was confirmed to Guardian Media by a teacher who wished not to be identified. The teacher said the incident has left them terrified and shaken.

Two wounded following gun play

Two men were shot and wounded on Thursday morning in Morvant.
According to a police report, shortly after midnight on Thursday, residents of the area heard several gunshots.
The police officers, who were called to the scene, found both wounded men bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds about their respective bodies.
The men were taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where they were treated and warded in serious conditions.
Investigations are continuing. 
 

Man held for St James food vendor murder

A man has been detained in connection to a shooting incident which claimed the life of food vendor in St James.

According to police reports, around 8 last evening a gunman walked up to the owner of the Grill King burger cart along the Western Main Road in St James and opened fire on him, at point blank range.

The victim has since been identified as Neil Dwarika of Bournes Road, St James.

Murder in Belmont

The murder count continues to rise, following a murder in Belmont early this morning

Police say 23 year-old Shakeem Roberts was liming on some steps in the area at about 12:30 this morning, when a gunman approached, shot him, and then ran away.

Roberts died on the spot.

Investigations continue.

Police probe two murders, two hours apart

Homicide detectives are investigating two unrelated murders that took place in North Trinidad on Sunday night, within the space of two hours.

In the later incident, shortly after 9 pm, Derrick Valentine, 33, of Covigne Road, Diego Martin, was at his home with his family when two gunmen men stormed into the house.

The men then opened fire, shooting Valentine multiple times about the body before escaping.

Valentine was taken to the St James infirmary where he died while undergoing emergency treatment.

Murder in Pinto, Arima

A shooting in Arima has left one man dead.

CNC3 News understands at around 9 p.m. last night Kevin 'Pencil' Lochan was gunned down along Punette Avenue, Pinto, Arima.

Police say Lochan was celebrating his birthday at a lime in the area, when a silver wagon pulled up and the occupants opened fire.

He died on the spot.

Police say Lochan was well-known to them.
