'That is not my husband'

The wife of a sol­dier who went miss­ing at sea last month says pic­tures cir­cu­lat­ing on­line of a man whose body was found washed up in Venezuela yes­ter­day is not her hus­band, Cor­po­ral Ger­ald James.

“That is not true. That word that is cir­cu­lat­ing on the in­ter­net is not true. That is not him. I got it too, last night the mil­i­tary called me to warn me what was tak­ing place,” Ray­heb James said. “A lot of in­for­ma­tion go­ing out there to test your faith but I trust God and I be­lieve. I ain’t let­ting noth­ing shake me.”

Family believes missing soldier still alive

The fam­i­ly of Cpl Ger­ald James, who went miss­ing at sea last Fri­day, be­lieves he is still alive and claims not enough is be­ing done to find him.

James was last seen on Fri­day morn­ing when he left on a fish­ing trip with two oth­er men, Roger Per­reira and broth­er-in-law Joseph Wat­son. His wife, Ray­heb James, said she be­lieved in her heart that he is still alive.

Suspended soldier killed by police following security guard's murder

A suspended soldier turn robber was shot dead by police as a suspect in the robbery and murder of an SRP serving as a security guard at a Boundary Road liquor mart.

The daring robbery at the liquor mart left a Special Reserve Police officer and part-time security guard, Cleavon Frederick dead.

Police reports indicate that that three men entered the liquor mart and announced a hold-up. 

Frederick was shot in the head.

The men then made their escape in a white Nissan Tiida vehicle.

The security officer was rushed to hospital but died on arrival..

Soldier arrested for fatal hit-and-run

Po­lice have de­tained a mem­ber of the T&T De­fence Force (TTDF) in con­nec­tion with last Sat­ur­day’s hit-and-run ac­ci­dent which claimed the life of cy­clist Aaron Thomas in Cu­mu­to.

Thomas, of Vic­to­ry Heights, Ari­ma, died af­ter be­ing struck while rid­ing ahead of his Madon­na Wheel­ers team­mates west along the Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way near the Cu­mu­to in­ter­sec­tion.

Soldier among three held with gun, ammunition

A soldier is among three persons arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Chaguanas HotSpot Unit, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Charlieville district.

PCs Persad and McKenna were on mobile patrol along Pierre Road, Charlieville, around 4 am, on Saturday 1st September, 2018, when they observed the occupants of a silver Suzuki Ciaz motor vehicle, bearing no license plates.

The officers gave chase and subsequently intercepted the vehicle in the vicinity of the NP Service Station, with three male occupants.

Soldier arrested for possession of ammunition

A Corporal attached to the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment is currently in police custody for possession of ammunition after he was arrested by officers of the Morvant Police Station.

Officers of the Morvant Police Station were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at a house along Pelican Extension Road, Morvant, around 4:05 pm, on Thursday 17th May, 2018, when they had cause to arrest the soldier.

While at the scene of the dispute, officers received information which led them to conduct a search of the laundry room of the house.

Second man charged with soldier's murder

A second Gasparillo man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force soldier, Ken Palmer, which occurred on Thursday 15th March, 2018.

The accused is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate, also charged with four additional offences.

Ravi Pooran, 30, a labourer of Rampersad Avenue, Dalloo Road, Gasparillo, is also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of firearm and ammunition to endanger life.

Soldier killed in road accident

A member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force is the country’s latest road fatality.

Reports indicate that just after 4 am, Rajesh Sookdeo was proceeding south along the Solomon Hochoy highway when he lost control of his white Honda Civic.

Sookdeo‘s vehicle ran off the roadway and crashed into a light pole.

He died at the scene.


Police arrest suspect wanted for soldier's murder

The suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a soldier and the wounding of another man in Gasparillo last week Thursday, has been arrested.

Police said in a tweet that the arrest occurred around 4:30 pm today in the Erin district.

He was held by officers of the Southern Division under Supt. Zamsheed Mohammed and the South Western Division under Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Neville Adams, with assistance from Special Branch, Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3, the OCIU and the SSA.
