Tabaquite MP condemns weekend traffic disruption on UBH

Member of Parliament for Tabaquite, Dr Surujrattan Rambachan, is condemning the planned traffic disruptions on the Uriah Butler Highway this weekend, as the Works and Transport Ministry carries out road works.

Dr Rambachan, who is a former minister of Works and Transport, believes the disruption is a deliberate move by the PNM to hamper UNC campaigning over the weekend.

Tabaquite residents protest bad bridge

Frus­trat­ed over a dan­ger­ous rick­ety wood­en bridge in their com­mu­ni­ty, res­i­dents of Pi­paro Road, Tabaquite yes­ter­day held a fiery protest call­ing for a new bridge.

Shout­ing “we want we bridge fix right now,” the res­i­dents with plac­ards burned de­bris and gath­ered at the Pi­paro Road bridge.

The road is the main ac­cess point to and from their com­mu­ni­ty. They com­plained that on nu­mer­ous oc­ca­sions, res­i­dents’ feet have gone through gap­ing holes in the bridge caus­ing them in­juries while ve­hi­cles have been dam­aged.

Tabaquite man charged with attempting to kill his aunt

A 36-year-old Tababquite man has been charged with the attempted murder of his aunt according to a release by the TTPS. The following is the full statement:

A man is due to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, charged with the attempted murder of his aunt, Ria Meera Bajan, on Saturday 5th August, 2017.

Tabaquite man chopped to death

A man has been chopped to death.

CNC3 News understands that the incident took place at Allen Road, Tabaquite early this morning.

The victim has been identified as Stanley Seecharan.

Details are still sketchy, and we'd have more on this story in a subsequent news update.

Seecharan's murder comes mere hours after a 33-year-old farmer was shot and killed in Biche.

Around 12:30 pm on Thursday Kimraj Jawahir was shot to death in his vehicle after planting dasheen with his father in law.

43-year-old Tabaquite mother killed after being hit by car

A 43-year-old mother died after being knocked down while walking home Sunday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, around 6:30 pm, the victim, Sharlene Boodram was walking along San Pedro Road, Poole, in the company of her brother when the accident occurred. 

CNC3 was told a B12 vehicle crashed into a parked B15, spun out of control and crashed into the woman.

She died at the scene.

A relative said Boodram normally walks home.
