Frustrated over a dangerous rickety wooden bridge in their community, residents of Piparo Road, Tabaquite yesterday held a fiery protest calling for a new bridge.
Shouting “we want we bridge fix right now,” the residents with placards burned debris and gathered at the Piparo Road bridge.
The road is the main access point to and from their community. They complained that on numerous occasions, residents’ feet have gone through gaping holes in the bridge causing them injuries while vehicles have been damaged.
A 36-year-old Tababquite man has been charged with the attempted murder of his aunt according to a release by the TTPS. The following is the full statement:
A man is due to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, charged with the attempted murder of his aunt, Ria Meera Bajan, on Saturday 5th August, 2017.
A man has been chopped to death.
CNC3 News understands that the incident took place at Allen Road, Tabaquite early this morning.
The victim has been identified as Stanley Seecharan.

Seecharan's murder comes mere hours after a 33-year-old farmer was shot and killed in Biche.
Around 12:30 pm on Thursday Kimraj Jawahir was shot to death in his vehicle after planting dasheen with his father in law.
A 43-year-old mother died after being knocked down while walking home Sunday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, around 6:30 pm, the victim, Sharlene Boodram was walking along San Pedro Road, Poole, in the company of her brother when the accident occurred.
CNC3 was told a B12 vehicle crashed into a parked B15, spun out of control and crashed into the woman.
She died at the scene.
A relative said Boodram normally walks home.
