Panama names team to face T&T in next week's World Cup qualifier

Panama Head Coach Hernan Dario Gomez has selected his final squad to face Trinidad and Tobago in next Friday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

The last time Panama played in Port of Spain in a World Cup qualifier in Port of Spain, T&T came away 2-0 winners with Stern John opening the scoring in the first half and Dennis Lawrence netting the second item after the break.

T&T moves up in FIFA football rankings

Trinidad and Tobago men's football team has gained six points and moved up in the latest FIFA football ranking.

This country is now ranked 58th out of 205 countries.

Jamaica is the only other Caribbean country ahead of T&T, with a ranking of 55.

The latest ranking has seen some major shuffle in the table, as Wales gained 15 points to climb into the 11th spot, ahead of England at 13th.

France rose to 7th on the table, while Euro champs Portugal climbed to 6th.

Both Brazil and Spain dropped two points to finish 8th and 9th respectively.

New doping revelation could see T&T being awarded 2008 Olympic 4x100 gold medal

Trinidad and Tobago's 2008 Olympic 4x100 metre team could be awarded the gold medal for the event, after placing second at the Bird Nest Stadium in Beijing.

The Gleaner Newspaper in Jamaica is now reporting that Jamaican Nesta Carter, who was part of Jamaica's gold medal team, has been identified as one of 32 athletes who failed a retrospective drugs test.

That now puts Jamaica's gold medal in jeopardy.

The Gleaner said a retest of Carter`s `A` sample from the Beijing Games had found traces of the banned stimulant Methylexaneamine.

CPL T20 CEO denies Guyana officials' reports that T&T selected for CPL Final

Chief Executive Officer of the HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Damien O’Donohoe has denied that a decision has been made about the venue of the CPL finals.

Several newspapers in Guyana and Cana News Online reported on Wednesday and Thursday that authorities announced in Guyana, that the semi-finals and finals of this year’s CPL will be played in Trinidad and Tobago after Guyana lost its bid to host.

However, O’Donohoe said in a statement Thursday that negotiations are ongoing.

Kenwyne Jones calls for support vs SVG tomorrow

National football captain, Kenwyne Jones is appealing to citizens to turn out in their numbers at tomorrow's World Cup Qualifier against St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Jones says the team was not at their best when they defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 3-2 in St Vincent on Friday but says they want to rewrite history on the road to Russia.

Military repairs house damaged by helicopter

The T&T Regiment has started repairs on a house on Carenage damaged by the downdraft of an airguard helicopter a week ago.

The repairs come after an apology by the Chief of Defense Staff earlier this week.
