Police confirm woman in viral picture is a police officer

The TTPS has confirmed that the image circulating on social media with a woman holding a child whilst holding a weapon is currently an officer of the TTPS.

Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) can confirm that the image circulating on social media, of a woman holding a child whilst brandishing what appears to be a firearm, is that of a serving member of the TTPS. 

Police record 26% increase in motor vehicle theft

Motor vehicle theft has increased by 26% according to the TTPS.

Nissan vehicles make up 58% of reported stolen vehicles.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has noted an alarming increase in the number of vehicles stolen throughout the country for the period January 1st to October 31st 2017, compared to the same period in 2016.

Pistol and ammo seized in Penal

Police discovered a Baretta Pistol and three rounds of ammunition during an anti-crime exercise in Penal by the Southern Division task force.

A pistol and a quantity of ammunition were discovered by officers of the South Western Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Penal district, over the weekend. 

Police destroy marijuana field worth $5M in St. Ann's

The TTPS discovered a marijuana field in St. Ann's while searching for two suspects who shot and wounded a police officer.

The hunt for two armed men who shot and wounded an on duty police officer in Morvant, has resulted in the discovery of a marijuana field, with an estimated street value of $5Mn.

Tabaquite man charged with attempting to kill his aunt

A 36-year-old Tababquite man has been charged with the attempted murder of his aunt according to a release by the TTPS. The following is the full statement:

A man is due to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, charged with the attempted murder of his aunt, Ria Meera Bajan, on Saturday 5th August, 2017.

Teenage girl among 5 arrested following police exercise

A teenage girl has been arrested following a police exercise in Arima. The following is a media release from the  TTPS:

Five persons were arrested and a pistol, a quantity of ammunition and a bulletproof vest seized, by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise, yesterday morning.

Officers conducted the exercise between 4:00 am and 8:00 am, in Arima, during which a search warrant was executed at a house at Sherwood Park, around 5:00 am.
